Cassie Corson Essay
Being a Christian isn’t just about showing up for events and holidays. Of course those are all still important, it’s about being glad about it, and we are glad about so many things.
Jesus died on the cross for us, so that we don’t have to suffer the pain and agony of eternal death. Instead, because he died and took away our sins, we get eternal life. “The lamb of God takes away the sins of the world.” It’s all because of God’s unconditional love for us, and we are glad.
As Christians, we are responsible for teaching others about God.
“Go and teach disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the father, son and holy spirit.” Everybody should know about all the wonderful things God does for us. If we didn’t teach others about it, the knowledge would just disappear, and eventually if that happened we would all be punished to eternal death. So, we should all be glad to teach others about God.
God does everything for our good, even though sometimes it doesn’t seem like it. He provides us our shelter, food and clothes. He gives us those things by giving us the ability to work, although he could also perform a miracle, but that’s very rare.
We are all glad that Jesus took away our sins. He took away everybody’s sins. Not just believers, but also unbelievers. Everybody is sinful by nature, but it’s the Holy Spirit that brings us to faith.
“Christ died for all, righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.” God wants all of us to be saved, but unfortunately there will always those who have no faith, and as humans, we need our sins taken away because we are all dead in sin and unable to save ourselves.
Everybody should be glad to be a Christian. Jesus died for us, the Holy Spirit brought us to faith, and God has done so much more for us. In response to God’s unfailing love for us, we do good works. Good works can be anything from being respectful to the others around you, to just being glad about being a Christian.
